The build-up to Aston Villa’s Player of the Year continues. Last time out, we looked at potential winners Tammy Abraham, John McGinn and Conor Hourihane. Now, we look at Jack Grealish.

The debate will always remain open as to whether Villa are heavily reliant on Grealish or not, but there is no doubt that they are a force to be reckoned with when he is in the side.

At the end of February, with Grealish nearly entering his third month on the sidelines with an injury, Dean Smith’s side had won only two out of their 11 matches.

Their promotion hopes looked well and truly out of the window… until Grealish made a return. Since coming back into the side, he has helped his team to eight wins on the bounce.

They are currently sitting fifth in the table and are well on course to securing a top-six finish at the end of the season.

Villa look a completely different team when Grealish is playing. The fans seem to be more positive and the players have a spring in their step.

It’s exactly what he has done this term and it won’t be a surprise to see him walking away with Villa’s main crown at the end of the campaign.

If Smith’s side want to earn promotion then they need their star man on the field of play because without him their chances certainly decrease.
