In a saga that has been described as ‘bizarre’ by many villa fans, Jack Harrison has been heavily linked to the Villains.

The rumours began and within no time the deal was all but confirmed it seemed.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Harrison had medical tests at Everton, before a personal call with Unai Emery seemed to sway the deal.

There are a mix of reports suggesting the winger was still opting for the toffees, but what could he add to Villa if he signed?

Who is Jack Harrison?

Despite being born in Stoke, Harrison began his professional career with New York City where he went onto make 55 appearances and score 14 goals.

He made a move to Manchester City as part of the City Football Group.

After moving to Leeds United on loan and finding success, he spent three seasons on loan at Elland Road.

Following survival in the Premier League with the Whites, the deal was made permanent for £11 million.

He signed a five year deal last season, prior to the clubs relegation.

With a relegation release clause and United willing to complete a loan, a move is looking likely.

What would Jack Harrison add to Aston Villa?

A hard-working winger who is adept going forward, all while contributing defensively.

He scores all types of goals with long range strikes being paired with late runs into box.

This resulted in five goals last season alongside seven assists, all in a faltering Leeds side.

In Emery’s system, Harrison could find a place out wide or even as a second striker, adding plenty of versatility to the squad.

With Emiliano Buendia injured for a prolonged period, a wide and creative midfielder will be wholly necessary.

If he was to play on the left hand side, he could form a positive partnership with Alex Moreno or Lucas Digne as they fly forward.

His attitude and ability to get up and down the pitch could make him an ideal signing for Villa’s Spanish coach.
