Aston Villa are looking at Nahuel Molina as a defensive option, but face competition with giants, Arsenal and Manchester City interested.

The Argentine has been linked away from Atletico Madrid on and off this summer, there are now rumours he could move in January.

Molina started his career at Boca Juniors where he only made eight appearances, over four years.

He had two loan spells away from the club, making 39 appearances for Defensa y Justicia and Rosario Central.

In 2020, the right back made his move to Serie A with Udinese, going on to make 64 appearances and scoring nine goals.

Last year, Molina moved to the Spanish capital in a deal worth £10 million.

In his first season, he played in all but five games as his side finished third in La Liga.

On the international stage, he has made 30 appearances over three years where he has won two trophies.

A Copa America, followed by a World Cup is an achievement like no other.

Should Aston Villa signed Nahuel Molina?

The 25-year old is in contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2027. Diego Simeone wants to keep him for an additional two years.

There are rumours that there is a release clause in his contract, with a fee being set at £90 million.

Molina is a versatile right sided player, being able to play as a right back, wing back or a winger.

With Matty Cash being Villa’s only option at right back this season, reinforcements would be ideal for Unai Emery.

With Man City and Arsenal also interested, it could be tough for Villa to be able to pull this move off.

On the flip side, the Villains could offer more guaranteed minutes on a regular basis.

Depending on the fee, this would be a great signing from Villa. He would definitely improve the side’s starting eleven.
