Aston Villa are weighing up their options in the transfer market as one link has now resurfaced this summer.
Unai Emery is aiming to bolster his squad at Aston Villa in preparation for the club’s return to the Champions League in 2024/25.
The Spaniard has already welcomed six new faces to his side this summer, with Amadou Onana expected to become the next arrival in the coming days.
As well as adding the Everton midfielder to his options, Emery and Monchi could be tempted to explore another player with Premier League experience.

Aston Villa transfer links to Kelechi Iheanacho resurface
As the summer transfer window continues to develop, Villa seem to be taking several diversions ahead of deadline day.
There has been increased activity at Bodymoor Heath in the market, with momentum not stopping soon, as per the latest reports.
BirminghamLive now claim that Villa’s previous interest in former Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has resurfaced, with the 27-year-old available as a free agent this summer.
The Nigerian’s contract with the Foxes expired this month, with Villa credited to have interest in the Manchester City academy graduate.
Links to Iheanacho aren’t new to Villa fans, as the club were said to be eyeing the FA Cup winner earlier this summer.
Emery’s interest in the forward is now claimed to have been re-ignited, which comes at a particularly busy time as Villa’s hunt for a new striker heats up.
Iheanacho could be just what Villa need this summer
With Jhon Duran’s future uncertain and Moussa Diaby poised to leave, signing a new forward is a must before deadline day.
Villa’s interest in Iheanacho is encouraging, with the player being a cost-effective yet hugely experienced forward to potentially add to the first team’s depth.
With 196 Premier League appearances and 67 goal contributions in the top flight to his name, the Nigerian could offer Emery a no-nonsense presence in the pecking order to support Ollie Watkins.
Added to his reliable goalscoring record in England, the 27-year-old is highly-rated by those who have worked with him over his career, most notably Pep Guardiola.
In quotes relayed by Manchester Evening News, Guardiola dubbed the Villa target as “incredible”, admitting he was “delighted” to see the Nigeria international doing so well at Leicester after leaving City.
Having just conquered the Championship with Leicester, Iheanacho could now return to the Midlands to play a part in Villa’s journey with Emery, in a move that could be beneficial to both player and club.
