Bertrand Traore could leave Aston Villa this summer, as Turkish side Samunspor have declared their interest in the attacker.

The 27-year-old spent the first half of last season out on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir before returning in January following the arrival of Unai Emery, but he now seems to have no future at Villa Park under the Spaniard.

The Burkina Faso international scored two league goals in eight appearances following his return, but with Villa targeting a new winger, he could be set for a permanent move.

Turkish outlet Aksam has claimed that Samunspor are interested in Traore as they aim to strengthen their options on both wings, but a deal could be difficult.

Should Villa sell Traore?

Given that Traore played just 226 minutes of Premier League football last season, the potential arrival of Moussa Diaby could spell an end to his Villa career.

Traore scored 10 goals in 56 appearances for Villa since joining in 2020, and overall has not lived up to expectations following his move from Lyon.

Villa qualifying for the Conference League means they may benefit from extra depth in the squad, but it seems that Emery does not believe Traore is of the right level as he seeks to increase the quality in his side.

Given that he is highly unlikely to feature much for Villa, a return to Turkey could give him regular first-team minutes and a fresh start after a difficult few years.

It remains to be seen what kind of fee Villa could get for the winger, but with just one year remaining on his deal, they are unlikely to recover the £17m fee they paid for him three years ago.

Diaby could be a massive upgrade on the former Chelsea attacker, and his sale is unlikely to cause too much upset amongst the Villa faithful.
