Athletic Club stalwart, Oscar de Marcos has suggested he would love Nico Williams to reject a move to Aston Villa with a January move being touted.
As they have for many months, Aston Villa continue to be linked to Nico Williams. This is as they look to add attacking reinforcements.
Since Unai Emery came through the doors in B6, Nico Williams has been of serious interest to the Villains.
With that being said, the Spaniard opted to sign Moussa Diaby over the summer. They do still hold interest in the LaLiga star.
It has been said by one of his teammates that he hopes that any advances are turned down.
What has Oscar de Marcos said about Nico Williams?
De Marcos has been with Bilbao since 2009 and has gone on to make an astonishing 509 appearances for the club.
In terms of club legends, that many appearances makes you a well-respected figure at a football club.
Another player who is loved at Athletic Club is Williams. Alongside his brother, Inaki, they have become a big part of the club in years gone by.
With 94 senior appearances for Nico joined by 394 by Inaki, there is a bloodline running through their team right now.

With that being said, players and fans alike are desperate to make sure the younger of the two, stays.
Discussing his situation with Mundo Deportivo, via Sports Witness, de Marcos said: “I see Nico doing well, as always.
“For us, he is an important player because he has that imbalance, and it would help us if he continued here. I trust that it will be like that, and I hope so. I would love it for the good of Athletic.”
It must be said that it will be difficult to get Williams out of LaLiga and Bilbao given his connection to the club.
With that being said, they currently sit fifth in the league which would see them get Europa League football.
Aston Villa are challenging at the top end of the Premier League, with Champions League a realistic goal. With Emery at the wheel Villa Park is a very attractive prospect right now.
It us unclear what the Spaniard will do come January. His club mates wan him to stay but Champions League prospects could come calling.
