Time is quickly evaporating for Aston Villa to complete the final touches of their transfer business before the 11 pm deadline strikers.
Aston Villa brought in seven new players early doors but are now facing the consequences of spending nearly £150 million this summer.
Frustratingly, Unai Emery still needs to add at least a new right-back and centre-back to his squad for depth purposes however, Villa are in a position where they need to sell to buy.
It was revealed on Wednesday that Emery needed to sanction the exits of three players, including Leander Dendoncker, Diego Carlos and Enzo Barrenechea to afford primary target Lutsharel Geertruida.
Sadly, failure to stump up the £30 million asking price for the Dutchman has seen RB Leipzig lead the race to sign Geertruida, who is set to go for his medical in Germany today.
Whilst there aren’t expected to be many, if any, incomings to Villa Park today there should be some departures.

Leander Dendoncker ‘could leave’ Aston Villa before the 11 pm deadline
Dendoncker is one player who looks certain to leave Aston Villa before the deadline strikes.
Initially, Spanish side Las Palmas came forward with a loan proposal for Dendoncker but affording his wages appeared to be a stumbling.
Then, it was reported on Friday that Dendoncker could return to his former club Anderlecht, where he started his professional career.
The Belgian Pro League want to sign the 29-year-old midfielder on a permanent deal and that hope has since been reinforced by Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, who claims that the Belgium international ‘could leave’ before the 11 pm deadline.
However, Thomas claims that Dendoncker’s exit is likely to be on loan, whereas Anderlecht hoped to strike a permanent deal.
Aston Villa set for frustrating Deadline Day
While delivering an update on the ‘brilliant’ Aston Villa ace, Thomas also adds that there is unlikely to be any more incomings at Villa Park due to PSR.
Earlier in the summer, it was exclusively revealed that the Villans needed to sell some of their talent to adhere to Profit & Sustainability rules.
After spending close to £150 million on new players and receiving around £120 million in return, this unfortunately means that by adding further additions to their squad, Villa run the risk of breaching PSR.
This is the worst-case scenario as defensive reinforcements are needed ahead of their campaign in the Champions League, as one or two injuries to key players would leave them shorthanded.
On deadline day, though, it’s important to never say never, as seeing an incoming arrive through the door wouldn’t be a surprise.
