Sheffield United are keen to secure the services of Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer this summer.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, reporting on his Patreon page, Sheffield United are willing to pay £18 million to prise Cameron Archer away from Aston Villa in this transfer window.
Sheffield United certainly need to strengthen their attacking contingent. The Blades are without a point in the Premier League so far this season, and have look pretty toothless in attack in their losses against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, bounced back from their own nightmare start against Newcastle United with a thrashing of Everton last time out. With the game all but won against the Toffees, Unai Emery took the chance to introduce Archer from the bench.
Archer came through the academy system at Villa Park, and made his senior debut for the club in 2019. Since then, he has managed 14 appearances in all competitions for the club. His 4 goals for the Villans all came in the League Cup during the 2021/22 campaign.

A good deal for Archer and Aston Villa
The 21-year-old has garnered most of his experience from loan spells with Solihull Moors and Preston North End. A stint in the Championship with Middlesbrough in the second half of last season saw Archer blossom as a player. The young forward scored 11 times in 20 league outings for Boro.
Archer showed that he could be a prolific figure in the second tier, but he is still waiting for the chance to prove his worth in the top flight. He would get that opportunity at Bramall Lane. Despite his obvious talent, Emery may also consider an £18 million bid for Archer too good to turn down, as especially as the fee would represent pure profit for Aston Villa, who didn’t have to pay to bring Archer to the club.
Having been with Aston Villa since the age of eight, Archer will obviously have a deep connection with the club. With the likes of Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran ahead of him in the pecking order though, and the chance to lead the line for the Blades in the Premier League potentially on the table, now may be the perfect time for the youngster to move on.
