The future of Nicolo Zaniolo at Aston Villa remains unknown as the forward nears the end of his loan spell in the Premier League, with his agent now providing an interesting verdict on his client’s stance ahead of the transfer window.

It’s been an underwhelming season for Nicolo Zaniolo as part of a thrilling Aston Villa squad, with the Italian yet to show his full potential to Unai Emery.

The 24-year-old arrived at Villa in the summer on a season-long loan from Galatasaray with a ‘conditional compulsory purchase option’ involved in the deal with the Turkish side.

So far, the Villans have paid the Lions a £4.25m loan fee, and are yet to decide his future, with the versatile forward still yet to make his mark on Emery’s squad.

There has been a host of speculation regarding Zaniolo’s plans beyond this season, with his agent Claudio Vigorelli now sharing an insight into his client’s time in the Premier League.

What the agent of Nicolo Zaniolo has said about his future at Aston Villa

In February, it was suggested by Turkish reports that Villa had made their mind up to decide against making the Italian’s move permanent.

Nothing has become official yet, with there still a role for the 24-year-old to play this season in England, which was echoed by Viogrelli in an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb where he said:

“Today we are only thinking about finishing the season well. The Premier League was a wonderful experience and that doesn’t mean it can’t continue.

“Let’s focus on the end of the season and the European Championship which is upon us, then we’ll see.”

There were also reports to suggest that Zaniolo was keen to return to Italy next season, with Gianluca Di Marzio explaining that the former Roma ace is admired by Napoli.

Now that the player’s agent has hinted that his client’s time in England could ‘continue’, speculation will continue to surround the player’s future at Villa however, he still has a long way to go in convincing Emery of his worth.

Nicolo Zaniolo has a lot to prove to Aston Villa

A player capable of many things, Zaniolo is yet to prove himself in England, having scored three goals in 38 appearances across all competitions this term for Villa.

Out of his 38 appearances, the Italian has started only 13 fixtures, telling of the lack of trust Emery has in the forward to push him up the pecking order in the squad.

The future of Zaniolo is a strange one for Villa, who have recently seen glimpses of the combative and spirited element that the 24-year-old could offer to the team although, his time at the club simmers down to a handful of encouraging displays.

Whether Emery sees something in the Galatasaray loanee to warrant securing him permanently is unknown, making his future particularly interesting after his agent’s open comments.
