Jhon Duran has signed a new Aston Villa contract and the fans are beyond ecstatic.

It wasn’t so long ago that Chelsea were knocking on the door to sign Duran, as the heavy-spending London club were looking to bulk up their squad with Europe’s young best stars.

Even West Ham came calling for Duran, but they didn’t put down the required money Aston Villa wanted for their young bright star.

Either way, for all intents and purposes, it looked like the hard-hitting striker was going to head for the exit door during the summer transfer window.

But then something, somewhere, clicked and his career in B6 took a turn for the better and he is now an important cog in Unai Emery’s wheel.

So much to the point that, after a historic week for the club, it has been topped off by Duran signing a new long-term contract.

Last week, the 20-year-old was scoring the winner for Villa against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and now, he has received a bumper pay rise and a few more years added to his deal.

With Villa in the Champions League and hoping to maintain their stay with the elite, then this contract news certainly helps matters.

Ollie Watkins is the main striker at Villa, but for the club to have a ready-made striker at their disposal and one of the best young prospects behind him, then that’s the perfect combination.

Either way, when the news broke about Duran signing a new deal at Villa, the player himself posted a message on Twitter.

‘We keep working on it and here we go Villains 2030,’ wrote Duran on social media.

Jhon Duran pushing for a start

Aston Villa’s drab draw against Manchester United was nothing to shout about, with the team producing next to nothing to try and win the game.

Duran came on but couldn’t work his usual magic from the bench, but now he must be pushing to start.

That goal against Bayern has to be rewarded with a start sooner rather than later, either in the Champions League or the Premier League.

Villa will be back at it right from the off when they return from national duty and Emery now needs to start rotating because the performances are starting to slack.
