Aston Villa defender, Clement Lenglet is now subject to interest from Napoli as their number one target, Radu Dragusin, is set to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Following a season-ending injury to Tyrone Mings at the beginning of the season, Aston Villa signed Clement Lenglet.
With that being said, it has taken time for him to get into the starting XI under Unai Emery. In recent weeks he has made four starts in a row.
Prior to this run of games, he had seen many links away from Villa Park with Barcelona potentially looking to recall him.
It has been said that the Villans don’t want to let Lenglet go as he will play his part on the team this season. He is a necessary part of the squad in spite of Pau Torres, Ezri Konsa and even Diego Carlos being ahead of him in the pecking order.
Despite Emery and Villa making their position on the Frenchman clear, there are new links that have now arisen.

Tottenham transfer triangle with Clement Lenglet and Napoli
There hasn’t been a lack of reports linking Lenglet with a move back to Barca and then back out on loan again. With that being said, Villa don’t appear to be willing to let this happen.
This hasn’t stopped a new report from the Birmingham Mail from being revealed this week with multiple clubs still interested.
They said: “Napoli are reportedly considering Aston Villa centre-back Clement Lenglet as an option to reinforce their defence.
“Lenglet meanwhile, has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs in Europe, including Lyon and AC Milan.”
It is clear that there are plenty of top clubs showing interest in securing Lenglet’s signature in January and beyond. This may create some unrest in the Villa camp should he want to force through the move.
The Mail continued saying: “According to Calcio Napoli, the Italian outfit are considering a couple of options for their defence and have turned to Villa and Tottenham, respectively. Lenglet and Eric Dier are said to be of interest after failing to land Radu Dragusin, who is in negotiations to join Spurs.”
This could create a transfer merry-go-round in January which will cause a ripple effect across many different clubs.
If Dragusin leaves for Tottenham and Lenglet goes to Napoli it means Villa and Genoa will be after defenders. Then whoever they sign, their clubs will need the same etc. And the cycle goes on.
The buck over a potential move for Lenglet stops with Villa and as a result, a move feels unlikely this month.
