The transfer window is close to shutting but several Aston Villa players could leave before the deadline.
Villa waved goodbye to several players of contrasting importance this summer.
Douglas Luiz and Moussa Diaby were two key reasons why Unai Emery qualified for the Champions League but that duo were sold to comply with the Premier League’s spending rules.
A further four players were sold permanently, including Cameron Archer, Calum Chambers, Viljami Sinsalo and Tim Iroegbunham while a raft of talent, young and old, were allowed to leave on loan.
Emery and Monchi have done well to clear out the deadwood but there are still a few individuals who could leave before Deadline Day.

Four players who could leave Aston Villa before Deadline Day

Diego Carlos
Aston Villa are in advanced talks to sign Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida and this could have ramifications on the future of Diego Carlos.
Currently, the Brazilian stalwart is third-choice at centre-back but the arrival of Geertruida could see him drop to fourth in the pecking order.
Carlos could, therefore, push for an exit if Emery lands the Dutchman as his chances of playing regular first-team football at Villa look increasingly slim, especially after the ‘real blow’ he faced on Saturday.
Villa would be looking to recoup most of the £26 million they paid for him two years ago and there is interest in his signature, given Fulham wanted him a couple of weeks ago.
Enzo Barrenechea
Enzo Barrenechea was signed as part of a separate deal that saw Luiz join Juventus, with teammate Samuel Iling-Junior also making the switch to Birmingham.
Iling-Junior knew he’d struggle to play at either left-back or on the wing given the depth in those positions, and the 20-year-old has since completed a season-long loan to Serie A Bologna.
Barrenechea, who isn’t guaranteed to start at Villa – especially once Boubacar Kamara returns – could be loaned before the window closes.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has been linked with a return to Italy and it remains to be seen whether Emery allows him to leave.

Leander Dendoncker
Steven Gerrard captured Leander Dendoncker from Wolves two years ago but the Belgian has since struggled to feature under Emery.
The all-action midfielder was indeed loaned out to Napoli in the January transfer window but he only made three appearances for the club in a rather uneventful spell.
Dendoncker sees his contract expire at Villa Park in 2026 however, he isn’t part of Emery’s plans after being left out of his squad completely.
A move out of Aston Villa, either on loan or permanently, is the best decision for both parties in the closing stages of the window.
Kortney Hause
Supporters can be forgiven for forgetting that centre-back Kortney Hause is still on the books at Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old has been cast into the wilderness and hasn’t made an appearance for the club since coming off the bench against Everton in January 2022.
Two and a half years after last playing a minute in claret and blue, Hause needs to be shifted off the wage bill this summer, otherwise, he will leave on a free transfer in 2025.
