Aston Villa have made the signing of Omar Khedr from collaborate club, Zed FC.
The 17-year-old spent a trial period at Bodymoor Heath and has subsequently been signed by the club.
On Villa’s official website they have described the Egyptian youth international as a ‘significant coup for the academy’.
Villa announced the signing of Rico Richards last month in similar circumstances.
What do we know about Omar Khedr?
Khedr has signed as part of Aston Villa’s owners network of teams including Zed and Vitoria SC.
He had been reported to be joining the Portuguese side by Egyptian football researcher, Ahmed Khaled, but has been snapped up by the Villains.
The 17-year-old is said to be one of the most promising talents in Egyptian football and clearly impressed while training in the Midlands.
He won player of the tournament in the Under 17s Zed International Cup.
He is a very skilful player who loves getting the ball at his feet and running at his man.
He is able to cut inside and shoot, or get to the by-line and cut the ball back for his teammates.
As a 17-year-old he is a very unknown quantity but it is clear that the club is excited to secure his signature.
This signing will increase international viewership as the Villains, under Chris Heck’s tutelage, attempt to create a global brand.
