Aston Villa’s record signing Moussa Diaby closes in on his exit from Villa Park as he prepares for a medical at Al-Ittihad.
Villa’s transfer window has gotten more and more active as the weeks pass. After a busy June with the PSR deadline, Unai Emery’s team secured multiple signings on July 1.
Since then, they have been strongly linked with Amadou Onana and Jacob Philogene who are both expected to join their ranks in the coming weeks.
However, one big-name player could now leave the squad. The club have already lost Douglas Luiz to Juventus. Now it seems like they will lose Villa record signing Diaby who is set for a medical.
Moussa Diaby set for medical at Al-Ittihad for a fee of around £50 million

Diaby has been linked to Saudi Arabia heavily over the past few weeks. Villa’s record signing only joined the club last summer from Bayer Leverkusen.
In Birmingham, the winger struggled at first to adapt to the Premier League but began to find his feet in 2024.
However, it now seems like his journey with Villa and Emery is coming to a swift end.
According to Rudy Galetti, Diaby now has a medical booked at Al-Ittihad. He stated that there is ‘a deal agreed in principle’ with Villa for $65 million which is around £50.18 million.
The winger gave the ‘ok’ for the move and is set to sign a long-term contract with the Arabian side, earning $12 million a year.
There is a hope that the deal can be wrapped up in the next 48 hours so that they can complete the signing on Thursday ready for the winger to join Al-Ittihad’s training camp on Friday.
Aston Villa wise to cash in on Moussa Diaby

Diaby’s spell at Villa was not bad but it was certainly unspectacular. For Villa’s record signing, many of the Villa Park faithful rightfully were asking for more from the Frenchman.
Unfortunately, these glimpses only happened in spells and it has now become clear that Villa have better players at the club.
Both Leon Bailey and Morgan Rogers were better and had more potential than Diaby. On top of this, Philogene is set to sign for the club as well as Emi Buendia’s pending return from injury.
Due to this, you can argue Villa don’t need Diaby and therefore, it is wise for the club to cash in on their asset while they still can.
