Despite a fast start to the summer transfer market, Aston Villa are expected to make further moves after Euro 2024.
It’s been a rapid start to the week at Bodymoor Heath, as Aston Villa announced three new signings on Monday.
After Douglas Luiz departed, Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea arrived as part of the deal, with Ross Barkley then being unveiled later in the day.
Now that Villa’s PSR concerns have been alleviated after making sufficient sales, Unai Emery and Monchi will get to work at welcoming further new faces.

Aston Villa expected to make a move for Conor Gallagher after Euro 2024
Earlier in the summer, Villa were linked to Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who could leave the Blues ahead of 2024/25.
It’s rumoured that the West Londoners will ask for a fee in the region of £50m for their academy graduate, who was instrumental to Chelsea’s push for European football last season.
While links between the Midlands club and the England midfielder died down momentarily, speculation has reemerged as journalist John Townley shared that he expects Monchi to revisit Gallagher after the Euros.
Speaking on the Claret and Blue podcast, the Villa expert shared his thoughts on the possible transfer.
“Emery is a huge fan of Gallagher, he is one of Villa’s priority targets and we know that it’s a deal that Villa couldn’t do last month because Gallagher didn’t want to commit himself to anything, he wanted to focus on the Euros.”
With Emery’s stance made clear, it will be interesting to see if Monchi moves forward with exploring a deal for the 24-year-old, with Townley backing Villa to do so.
“Villa want Gallagher, is that a deal they will pursue? I think they probably will, especially when England get knocked out of the Euros.
“Will discussions accelerate? Probably so, Tottenham like him too so Villa will have competition, if not, I’d expect them to go for someone else because there’s clearly money there to do a deal for another midfielder.”
Signing Gallagher would be a statement from Villa
After his performances for Chelsea over the 2023/24 season, it’s clear to see why Emery is an admirer of Gallagher.
The Villa target, who was lauded as Chelsea’s “goalscorer, dynamo, heartbeat” by renowned journalist Henry Winter, is surely going to be in demand this summer.
For now, the midfielder is at the Euros with England, where he has featured sporadically in Gareth Southgate’s side, with his mind far from deciding on his domestic future at present.
It will be a fascinating story to follow if the Villans are to make a swoop for the Chelsea star, who could be the missing puzzle to Emery’s midfield in the absence of Luiz.
