An unnamed sporting director from Europe has admitted they believe Aston Villa youngster, Jhon Duran will become a star.
Jhon Duran signed for Aston Villa in January of last year and was an instant hit with fans, despite a lack of goals early on.
Signed by Unai Emery in a deal worth over £17 million from Chicago Fire, it took until earlier this season to open his Villa account.
With three goals for the Villans this season, fans had hope that he could go on to become a goalscoring force this season.
That hasn’t come to pass, however, as we reported yesterday that he has had a potential loan move sanctioned by the club.
What has been said about Jhon Duran?
During a Q and A session for the Daily Mail, Tom Collomosse was asked about the Colombian and his recent antics.
First discussing recent reports, he said: “As for Duran, things haven’t been the same since his activity on social media last month but Villa need to get him right as his potential is enormous.”
When Duran came in last January, he was all over social media and was clearly overjoyed to be moving to the Premier League. With daily live streams, posts and messages to fans, he became a fan favourite and cult hero early on.
This all changed this month as the forward took all traces of Aston Villa off of his social media and stopped posting.
With this happening, fans have been left questioning what has happened as it coincided with a drop-off in-game time for him.

Emery has confirmed that his social media wasn’t of concern and any games he had missed were due to a toe infection.
Fans have been left disappointed as Duran was finally showing some promise with goals against Everton, Crystal Palace and Legia Warsaw.
With that, an unknown chief has suggested he rates the striker: “A sporting director working in Europe told me he believes the Colombian can become one of the best strikers in the world.”
It would be of huge disappointment if he didn’t fulfil his potential in B6 and every fan will hope he can sort out his differences and focus on football.
