Aston Villa are still monitoring Spanish wonderkid Nico Williams, despite his current club chief being confident of keeping him.
Aston Villa have been long-term admirers of Nico Williams with a move linked in the summer. Despite being shot down then, they are still monitoring the winger according to 90min.
Williams’ contract is due to expire in 2024 as he and Athletic Bilbao continue to remain apart and unable to find a solution.
Villa remain confident of tempting Williams away from Bilbao but they will also face huge competition from England and across Europe.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Bayern Munich and Juventus are just a few of the teams credited with interest in the winger. While Barcelona are believed to have given up in their bid.
Despite all this interest, Bilbao aren’t giving up…

Bilbao chief expects Williams to re-sign
Despite links to several of Europe’s elite, the Bilbao club president John Uriarte has been confident in keeping his prized asset.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Uriarte said: “We feel calm about that. We think he’s going to extend and stay with us, this will happen.
“We want an attractive project, feeling sure that Nico Williams will be part of that for many years to come”.
Williams is highly sought after and it will be a struggle for Bilbao to keep him and offer him a deal which is on par with what Villa could offer.
The task of keeping him hasn’t been made easier by the winger’s rampant start to the season.
A fast start to the season for Nico
Managing to lure Williams to Villa Park would be the crowning moment of Monchi’s time at the club so far.
A true superstar in the making, as his stats show this season already with four assists in just seven games.
Williams is a fully-fledged Spain international and has played a massive role in Bilbao’s quick start to the season.
Currently sixth place with 17 points which is an excellent return for Bilbao who likely will be delighted with that outcome.
Williams has been consistently great for Bilbao this season, with an average rating of 7.13 on SofaScore.
Now we just wonder if he will be lining up for Villa soon.
