Aston Villa are willing to let striker Cameron Archer leave the club should the right bid come in.

First reported by David Ornstein, there is strong interest in the former Middlesborough forward who scored 11 and assisted six in the Championship last season.

With interest from the Premier League and Championship, should the Villains be looking to sell or finally give Archer his chance in the first team?

What is Cameron Archer good at?

He loves to score goals and has the ability to score every kind of goal. Strong foot or weak foot, powerful or precise shots he has it all.

He is also very adept at hold up play. The England youth international often comes short and spins in behind, also the ability to create goals for teammates.

As a back up option for the Villains going into the 2023/24 Premier League season, he will be a great option off the bench for Unai Emery.

Receiving the ball in tight areas, creating space and getting in behind will cause havoc for defences, especially as the clock winds down.

Would selling Cameron Archer make sense?

The question that lingers around all this is, does Archer want to play second fiddle or go out and start as many games as possible?

He was one of the best strikers in the Championship in the last two years and would have plenty of suitors if Villa wanted to sell.

For a player of his quality and being an England Under 21’s star, he would cost around £20 million pounds. With the potential sale of Aaron Ramsey for £14 million, this would free up budget to make another blockbuster signing.

With Jhon Duran still at the club, following his £24 million move in January, any playtime may have to be split between the young forwards.

Ollie Watkins’ form last season made him virtually untouchable for the Villains so Archer has a lot of work to get into the starting 11.

It is an interesting situation and there are positive aspects whether a sale happens or not, it will be interesting to see what happens to the Villa prospect this window.
