Aston Villa have been linked to a Champions League finalist as the hunt to replace Moussa Diaby continues.

What a summer it’s been so far for Aston Villa, who have entered the transfer market with a clear plan ahead of next season.

Unai Emery led his side to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League, seeing the club qualify for the Champions League.

Now, Villa are in the process of making upgrades to their squad ahead of competing among Europe’s best, with another possible target now identified.

Aston Villa target Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi to replace Moussa Diaby

After selling Moussa Diaby to Al-Ittihad, Emery will be on the hunt for a forward to replace the 19 goal contributions that the Frenchman provided last season.

Joao Felix is one player eyed by Villa, with another possible target now named as Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi.

A report from the Daily Mail claims that the Midlands club are ‘monitoring developments’ regarding Adeyemi’s future at Dortmund.

It’s added that Chelsea and Juventus are also admirers of the 22-year-old, who would only leave the Bundesliga outfit this summer to join a Champions League club.

The report puts a £35m price tag on the German, who is under contract at Dortmund until 2027.

Adeyemi is a huge talent

Many will know Adeyemi for his blistering pace on the flank, where he has caused havoc for the opposition countless times for Dortmund.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick described the Villa target as being a player capable of being “ice-cold” in the final third, via the Bundesliga website, with the 22-year-old showing huge potential early into his career.

Now, a new challenge could be on the cards for the fearless wide player, as Villa’s interest hints that a move to the Premier League could materialise this summer.

Interestingly, Adeyemi has been described as being like a Premier League star, as the German was compared to Mo Salah for his ability to ‘make magic happen’ on the left side.

Still a young prospect, there is work to be done to get Adeyemi near to Salah’s level however, there aren’t many managers better than Emery to polish a talent into a diamond.

It’s particularly interesting that the Dortmund ace is best deployed on the left wing, the area that could see the danger of Leon Bailey on the right be mirrored onto the opposite side.

Adeyemi’s presence screams excitement, with his link to Villa at this time being something very encouraging.
