Aston Villa’s interest in Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot appears to be in jeopardy as they look to tie him down to a long-term contract.

It had been reported over the summer that Aston Villa were interested in Adrien Rabiot but no move came to pass.

With the signing of Youri Tielemans, the need for a midfielder in Unai Emery’s squad appeared to be lessened.

With that being said, the links haven’t completely gone away as reports of a new contract have been tied to the Villains.

What has been said about Adrien Rabiot?

According to 90min, the Old Lady are looking at signing the Frenchman down to a long-term contract in Turin.

It is safe to say that the midfielder has had his best season in many years this time around, after struggling.

Last season he scored eight and assisted four from midfield and has started this season in a similar vein.

His performances have seen his manager, Max Allegri say: “An extraordinary player, he has a different engine from the others, he learned to score goals, he believes more in himself.

“I think he can do better this year, not in terms of goals but in terms of performance. It gives me great satisfaction already for the way he runs.”

It is obvious that he is a well-liked figure at the Allianz Stadium in spite of an unfavourable few years.

Should Aston Villa sign him?

It isn’t a very usual signing for Villa to make. However with the wage structure getting bigger in recent months, who knows?

There is no doubt in the quality that Rabiot possesses. He has been a regular for the French national team as they have become one of, if not the best, international sides.

His ability on the ball is top-tier and would add yet another good ball carrier into the Villains’ midfield.

With clubs like Manchester United, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich all interested, it is unclear whether he would want a Midlands move.

With the wages he would demand and the non-guarantee of first-team football in the Villa team, it isn’t a risk worth taking.
