Aston Villa are braced for the potential sale of Philippe Coutinho with there being reported interest from Qatar.

Aston Villa have bounced back from their opening day thrashing to win three games on the bounce, scoring at least three goals in each.

This has seen the good feeling around Villa Park return as new boy Moussa Diaby looks worth every penny that they had paid for him originally.

Next up the Villains have their second leg against Hibernian ahead of their inevitable Conference League qualification.

With the incomings said to be concluded in this transfer window, there is now a feeling that they could be selling a key player to Qatar.

Qatar in for Coutinho

According to respected transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Villa have been approached over a potential sale of the Brazilian.

He tweeted:

“Al Duhail have approached Aston Villa for Philippe Coutinho but there’s still no formal bid on the table.

“Discussions advanced on player side, not yet on club side. Talks will follow in the next days to understand if Coutinho will join the Qatari side.”

This is a deal which is likely to be welcomed by Villa and Unai Emery, due to the former Barcelona man not necessarily being part of the plans now.

This due to the signings made this summer which include Nicolo Zaniolo who is a direct replacement for Coutinho.

Will Villa sell?

Coutinho has under-performed this season and seems to have been outgrown by Villa despite originally joining as their most important player.

Having missed the last few games due to injury, it seems Emery’s mind it made up with Coutinho likely to have dropped down the pecking order again.

Therefore it is likely that this move ramps up speed now, considering the reliability of reports.

This move if a good fee is negotiated, could be huge in off-setting the incomings they’ve made this window.

Clearly not needed, a sale opens up options for Villa in a season they have spent a lot.
