Kalvin Phillips is believed to be in high demand at the moment with several Premier League teams mentioned as being keen.

The English international has been on the fringes ever since he arrived at Manchester City.

Now it has been reported by 90min, he has multiple options should he decided to embark on a new challenge, Aston Villa being one of these.

Phillips would be a huge coup for Villa given he was tipped with a move to Anfield as recently as the summer, another top move potentially from Unai Emery.

But what is the situation regarding Aston Villa’s interest and who else is involved?

Villa keen on Phillips

The report from 90min explains that Villa are interested in acquiring the 27-year-old midfielder who is currently on £150,000 per week at City.

Phillips is peripheral at best for City, however for Villa he would become one of the star players.

Villa will however face competition for his signature. It is believed Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are also interested in the talented player.

With just 70 minutes played this season, Phillips needs a move to avoid his career stagnating any further and to put himself firmly in Gareth Southgate’s thinking.

Not the first time Villa have shown interest

The report isn’t the first time Villa have been linked with a move for Phillips.

The Telegraph reported back in 2019 that Villa had made a bid of £15 million to sign the then prospect.

Phillips would be an excellent coup for Villa, a player who is adored by his peers due to his talents.

Marcus Rashford being one, as he called Phillips ‘immense‘ back in 2022.
