Aston Villa look set to secure the future of one of their talented youngsters with Lamare Bogarde ready to put pen to paper on a new contract.

Unai Emery has seen two of Aston Villa‘s most talented academy graduates sold this summer, with Tim Iroegbunam and Omari Kellyman both leaving to help ensure compliance with PSR.

Iroegbunam sealed a £9 million move to Everton and started for the Toffees as they lost 3-0 to Brighton in the opening weekend of the Premier League.

Kellyman’s path to first-team football looks set to be a longer one as the 18-year-old made a £19 million move to join Chelsea’s bulging squad.

Villa also re-signed one of their Bodymoor Heath talents this summer, buying Jaden Philogene from Hull City having only sold the winger a year ago.

Lamare Bogarde set to sign new Aston Villa contract amid Nottingham Forest interest

Now, the Villa Park club look set to ensure they keep an exciting prospect at the club.

That is because Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that versatile 20-year-old Lamare Bogarde has signed a new contract at the club he joined from Feyenoord in his homeland in 2021.

Romano posted on X: “Exclusive: 20-year-old talent Lamare Bogarde signs new deal at Aston Villa today as part of long term project.

“Nottingham Forest had bid rejected for Bogarde in June and he’s now going to sign a new deal at Aston Villa.”

The fact that Villa did not sanction Bogarde’s sale to Forest in June is telling, as it was the impending 30th June PSR deadline that saw the club agree to the sales of Iroegbunam and Kellyman.

The reluctance to sale Bogarde despite the fact he is a youth product meaning he would represent pure profit in accounting terms at a time Villa were trying to balance the books shows the Dutch under-20 international is tipped for a big future.

Bogarde spent the second half of the 2022/23 season and first half of last season on loan at Bristol Rovers.

This experience would have been invaluable for the youngster, who amassed 36 appearances across the two spells, assisting three goals.

Bogarde could be allowed to leave on loan again this season once his new deal is announced, but Emery may be tempted to keep him around the Villa squad given his versatility.

Bogarde can play as a centre-back, right-back or centre-midfielder without compromising his performance levels regardless of role.

With the extra games associated with competing in the Champions League, Bogarde could find himself handed opportunities if he stays at Villa Park this season; particularly in the domestic cups.

Whether he spends the 2024/25 campaign at Villa or elsewhere, Bogarde looks set for a big future at the Midlands club.
