The clock is edging closer to the 2023 summer transfer window slamming shut, with Aston Villa finalising their last few deals.
During the summer overall, it has been a standout window for the club, with Unai Emery being backed by the powers that be, including the big-money captures of Moussa Diaby and Pau Torres.
As Aston Villa fans have seen, both players, including Diaby, have made an outstanding start to life in the Premier League, as well as on the European stage.
Here we round-up the latest deadline day news from Villa Park:
Clement Lenglet signs for Villa
After Tyrone Mings’ season-ending injury, Villa have decided to bring former Tottenham Hotspur loanee, Clement Lenglet from Barcelona on a loan deal.
The 28-year-old has a lot of experience, especially on the European stage, including the ability to play in a back three.
Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter that Villa are paying ’75%’ of the player’s wages.

Paul Merson backs Philippe Coutinho exit
The 31-year-old is set to depart Villa Park in the coming hours and join Qatari champions, Al Duhail, as reported by Sky Sports.
Well, upon hearing about the news about Philippe Coutinho, former Villa man Paul Merson has backed the midfielder to leave.
Merson told Deadline Day on Sky Sports (01/09/23 at 3:30 pm: ““I think he suits that. I was quite shocked that Villa went in for Coutinho when they did, at the time. I didn’t think they needed him. I think he suits the Saudi (Qatari) league. It will be a good signing for both parties.”

Keinan Davis leaves Villa
Another academy player has left Villa, this time it’s Keinan Davis, with the 25-year-old moving to Italy and joining, Udinese.
Aston Villa posted on Twitter, on deadline day, that they can ‘confirm Keinan Davis has completed a permanent transfer to Udinese’.
Last season, Davis was on-loan at Watford, but he hasn’t played for Villa since, making 86 appearances in total, scoring six goals and supplying seven assists.
