Lucas Digne has been offered a move away from Aston Villa with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal said to hold interest in the left back.
The Frenchman joined Villa in January 2021 for £30 million from Everton, signed by Steven Gerrard.
Under Unai Emery, Alex Moreno has become the go to left back. This has left a potential window for Digne to leave in search of a consistent first team place.
Last season, he made 28 appearances, scoring a sole free kick against Manchester United in Emery’s first match in charge.
This has potential deal has first been reported by John Percy via The Telegraph.
Should Aston Villa sell Lucas Digne?
With the injury to Moreno, Digne has provided cover for him and has showed positive signs.
One thing that he does offer is top set piece and crossing ability, making him a valued member of the squad in that sense.
Despite these positives, Villa did spend a large fee on a player who isn’t guaranteed a first team place, so a potential sale could make sense.
Al-Hilal are interested in the defender, they have already made four big names signings in Malcom, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Kalidou Koulibaly.
With large fees being spent in the Pro League, it could be an opportunity to recoup some of the fee paid.
During pre season, Pau Torres was often playing as a left back, giving Matty Cash more licence to fly forward.

This goes to show that Digne may not be at the top of the list in Emery’s plans.
Moreno coming back soon and other defenders being linked to the club, the Frenchman’s time at the club might be up.
He will contribute to the team if he isn’t sold so it feels like a win, win scenario for the club.
