It has been reported once again that Aston Villa are willing to part ways with Leander Dendoncker this month, should an acceptable bid come in.
This season, Villa have only tended to make changes when they are forced into it. With injuries to stars like Pau Torres and Lucas Digne in recent weeks, changes have been necessary.
With Unai Emery at the helm, he has opted to trust in a regular starting XI which has been very effective in winning matches.
Coming into the new year, the Villans sit in second place in the Premier League and are just three points off top spot.
Being so high in the Premier League, there have been many links to new stars to help improve the Villans’ squad. With that being said, that will have to see some fringe players leave in order to make space for new stars.
Leander Dendoncker could be let go
Even with the suspension to Boubacar Kamara in recent weeks, Leander Dendoncker has only managed to start once. He came into the starting XI against Manchester United and even got on the scoresheet in the 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford.

It must be said that the midfield have struggled without an out-and-out defensive midfielder in the team. Against Sheffield United and Burnley, Douglas Luiz was often kept back which doesn’t suit his game.
Now with this lack of game time, there have been more rumours suggesting that the Belgian midfielder may be let go. This has been reported by John Townley in the Birmingham Mail this week.
On that, he said: “Leander Dendoncker has only started one Premier League game this season and could leave the club if a reasonable offer is made as Villa have looked at alternatives in his role. Tyler Adams was targeted last summer, but a move never materialised and he joined Bournemouth from Leeds.”
This makes it seem clear that Emery and the Villans will be looking to acquire a defensive midfielder this month. There have been links to stars like Matt O’Riley, although he is more of an offensive-minded talent.
It must be said that a bid would have to come in that would tempt Villa to let him go. If a bid comes in and a replacement signing could be made, then this move looks likely.
Dendoncker has been a useful squad player for the Villans and they need to be careful before letting him go this winter.
