Yannick Bolasie has admitted that leaving Aston Villa in January was ‘difficult’ as he wished the club the ‘best of luck’ for the play-off final.

The 29-year-old initially joined Villa on a season-long loan from Premier League side Everton last summer, but he cut his deal short during the winter transfer window.

In a heartfelt message posted on his personal Twitter account, Bolasie was grateful for the coaching staff and physios at Villa, Everton and Anderlecht for helping him on his road to recovery.

Prior to Bolasie joining Villa, he had just come back from a long term injury as the recently concluded campaign was his first full season without any trouble.

After his departure from Villa Park, the tricky winger opted to move to Belgian’s top-tier and join Anderlecht, who narrowly missed out on Europe.

Now he has returned to his parent club at Goodison Park and he will be looking towards making his mark on a club next season.

There could be the possibility that the DR Congo international could come up against Villa this term, but Dean Smith’s side will have to earn promotion to the promised land.
