Is Gabby Agbonlahor a one-club man?

Agbonlahor is a one-club man. He spent his entire career at Aston Villa. After rising through the ranks as a youngster, the striker made his professional debut in 2005. From here, he would have loan spells at Watford and Sheffield Wednesday before becoming a first-teamer.

The striker would never leave Villa and stayed at the club until he retired.

What are Gabby Agbonlahor’s stats?

In his time at the club, Agbonlahor made 391 appearances for the club in all competitions. This puts him 13th in the all-time appearance makers for Villa. He also found the net a total of 87 times. At the time of writing, he is also the club’s record Premier League top scorer with 73 goals.

When did he retire?

Agbonlahor left Aston Villa at the end of the 2017/18 season. The striker only played six times in the campaign, scoring once. His last appearance came against Sheffield United in December 2017.

His departure ended a 17-year run with his hometown club. Agbonlahor officially retired in March 2019.

What was his best Aston Villa goal?

Arguably Agbonlahor’s best goal is one of his first. Villa travelled to Birmingham for the derby in the 2007/08 season. With the scores level, the striker had to save Villa with a goal-line clearance to keep the score 1-1. Shortly after, Agbonlahor netted a late winner up the other end, nodding in an 86th-minute goal to win the derby 2-1.

What was his best season?

Agbonlahor’s best season is easily the 2009/10 campaign. The striker found the 16 times as the club aimed to return to the Champions League.

During the campaign, Agbonlahor netted many memorable goals including one to win 1-0 at Old Trafford. He also scored some vital goals to get Villa to the League Cup final before they lost to Man United.

At the end of the club, the striker helped guide the club to sixth place, earning another season in Europe.
