Find out which three games Aston Villa captain John McGinn is set to miss after his red card in the 4-0 defeat to Spurs.
Villa was humiliated on Sunday as Spurs hammered Unai Emery’s side 4-0 in a crucial game for Champions League qualification.
Multiple players were well below par including Ezri Konsa and Leon Bailey. However, one man who really let his side down was McGinn.
The captain picked up a red card just after the hour mark when the hosts were 2-0 down for a poor challenge at Villa Park.
The sending-off not only had huge ramifications on the game but could also effective Villa’s upcoming matches.
McGinn is now set to serve a three-match ban for the red card meaning he is set to miss three huge games in the race for the Champions League.
Below we list each and every game that the Villa captain is set to be suspended for.
John McGinn set to miss West Ham vs Aston Villa – March 17

The first game of his suspension will no doubt be a difficult one. Up against another European outfit, West Ham have also enjoyed a good season to date, sitting seventh in the Premier League.
Villa came out on top in the last meeting between the two sides with a 4-1 victory back in October.
However, with the race for European football heating up this will no doubt be a different game compared to the one in 2023.
Aston Villa vs Wolves – March 30

The second match will be the West Midlands derby against Wolves. The Black Country side has always made it difficult against the Villians and Emery has yet to overcome them since moving to Birmingham.
In fact, Villa have yet to beat Wolves at home since their return to the Premier League.
With Villa Park struggling to see out wins in their recent big games in 2024, McGinn will no doubt be a big loss here.
Man City vs Aston Villa – April 3

The final game will be a midweek trip to the Etihad. Arguably the toughest fixture in the Premier League, Villa will be without their captain.
Emery’s side earned a memorable 1-0 win in their last meeting where they completely played the champions off the park.
However, with City in form and closing in on another Premier League title, McGinn’s suspension could be damning for this fixture.
