Aston Villa are reportedly close to selling midfielder Marvelous Nakamba to Luton Town on a permanent deal.

Nakamba spent last season on loan with the Hatters and helped guide them to the Premier League by way of the play-offs. He played a pivotal role as his side beat Coventry City in the final on penalties.

His performances led Luton to make Nakamba their number one target following promotion. Manager Rob Edwards has become a huge fan of the Zimbabwean and has been quoted as saying:

“He’s been brilliant, I keep joking about it, but I’m serious as well, I keep telling everyone and I say it to the lads, he’s my favourite player in world football at the moment.”

Nakamba joined Villa in 2019 from Club Brugge for over £11million and made 68 appearances for the Villains.

Villa have ‘no intention’ of keeping him

According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Luton are close to agreeing a deal with Villa to sign Nakamba.

It is added that Unai Emery has ‘no intention’ of keeping the midfielder at the club as he prepares for the new season.

Due to this it is believed that a deal between the two sides could be finalised within the next 48 hours, according to The Telegraph.

It is a deal many fans of the Hatters would welcome as he quickly became a favourite last season at the club. It is also a deal many Villa fans would be happy to sanction.
