Aston Villa released club captain Ashley Young this summer, but the 38-year-old has no intentions of hanging up his boots just yet as Premier League clubs circle to sign the midfielder-turned-full-back.
The Daily Mail report that Everton and newly promoted Luton Town are amongst the clubs to have spoken with free agent Young.
Over two spells with Villa, the England international racked up 247 appearances in total, contributing 38 goals and 60 assists between 2007-2011 and 2021-2023.
Unai Emery described Young as a ‘very important’ member of the Villa squad last season, listing him as an ‘example’ for older players now achieving longer careers.

He managed 32 appearances during his final campaign with the Villans, playing his part both on and off the pitch as Emery’s men secured themselves a spot in next year’s Europa Conference League. It will be their first appearance in a European competition since their Europa League adventure in 2011.
With 17 Premier League seasons, a Premier League title, an FA Cup, a League Cup, two Community Shields, a Europa League trophy and a Serie A title to his name, Young brings a wealth of experience to the table that you would struggle to find in any other free agent this summer, that is for sure.
Does Young still have it?
Sean Dyche had previously tried to sign the Englishman whilst managing Burnley, but to no avail, so he will be hoping it is second time lucky on this occasion.
Luton Town, on the other hand, are crying out for some Premier League experience within their ranks following promotion from the Championship. He could prove to be a really shrewd piece of business for the Hatters.
To still be playing professional football at the age of 38 is an impressive feat in itself, but to have top flight clubs still chasing after his signature is a testament to the type of player he is.
Could this be Young’s last dance?
