Former Birmingham City midfielder Robbie Savage has admitted he is impressed by Aston Villa’s transfer incomings so far.
Coming from a rival praise tends to be a lot more genuine and means a great deal more.
Savage who was twenty years ago involved in a in-famous Second City derby incident with Dion Dublin.
He has now however spoken of how he is in admiration of Unai Emery’s summer transfers.
Villa moved quickly to secure the free-transfer of Youri Tielemans who departed Leicester City.
They then concluded a long winded hunt for Pau Torres who is a favourite of Emery, before breaking their transfer deal with a £51.9m fee to bring Moussa Diaby to the Premier League.

Savage on Villa’s signings
Savage spoke about the Villains signings on the Route One Football podcast with quotes via Birmingham Live.
Speaking with Alex Crook, the ex-Welsh international was asked which club in the Premier League has done the most exciting deals.
He said: “I wouldn’t say an exciting one but Aston Villa, their business has been very good,”
Savage continued to say: “Pau Torres, I watched a lot of Villarreal, I do like my European football, I think he can add to Aston Villa massively.
“I think the recruitment has been good through the summer, three very good signings.
“It’s not exciting, he is not going to score goals, he is not going to be creative but I think defensively for Aston Villa Pau Torres could be a really astute signing.”
He lastly signalled that this is an exciting time for Villa with a top squad and manager.
“I think what Unai Emery did was nothing short of unbelievable. To get them into a European place considering where they were when he took over.
“But those three additions are three players who can go into the starting XI which finished in a European place. I think there is a lot of optimism for Aston Villa fans.”
