Unai Emery has provided an update on why Jacob Ramsey missed the Carabao Cup fixture against Everton.

Aston Villa were knocked out of the League Cup on Wednesday night as they took on Everton at Goodison.

2-1 the game finished with Boubacar Kamara’s strike only being a consolation in the end for Villa.

But beyond the result, Villa will have been gutted by the absence once again of Jacob Ramsey.

Rasmey had only just returned to the team, and now finds himself once again injured.

Emery on Ramsey

Ramsey was injured during the under 21 European Championships back in July, with his return coming in the Europa Conference League last week.

Featuring in the defeat to Legia Warsaw, he then also featured from the bench against Chelsea.

Emery has confirmed however that Ramsey has picked up a small injury, as reported by Birmingham Mail.

“Jacob is not a hard injury. He has a small injury. Hopefully he can come back quick. I don’t know if Saturday he is going to be ready, but it’s not bad news the injury he has now.”

Ramsey needs to be eased back in

Following such a long and drawn out recovery process, Emery needs to ease Ramsey back in to avoid little injuries popping up again.

At such a young age, many players haven’t recovered properly and end up being riddled with injuries all their career.

To avoid this, Ramsey should be given minutes here and their along with intensive focus in the gym until he is fit and firing.

We hope to see him back very soon.
