Ross McCormack will see his wages increase to £70,000-a-week if Aston Villa earn promotion to the Premier League, according to the Sunday People.

The Sunday People (19/5; page 51) claims that the 32-year-old Villa flops wages will increase if Dean Smith’s side can beat Derby County in the Championship play-off final and, as a result, earn promotion.

The Midlands outfit will host Frank Lampard’s side on May 27th, and after losing to Fulham at Wembley last May, they will want to put things right this time around.

But McCormack will not be part of that Villa squad and he hasn’t been since the 2016/17 season when he fell out with then-manager Steve Bruce.

Since then, his career has spiralled the wrong way as he has had loan spells at Nottingham Forest, in the Australian A-League and most recently at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell.

When McCormack first arrived at Villa Park during the summer transfer window of 2016 from Fulham, a lot was expected of him, but he failed to deliver.

He struggled in a team that had just suffered relegation to the second tier and had, in the end, finished the season in mid-table despite being tipped to go straight back up.

There is no doubt that McCormack has no future at Villa, but it remains to be seen where he will play his football next term.
