Aston Villa supporters were once again left blown away by the performance of Morgan Rogers in the win over Bologna.

The rise of Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers has been nothing short of remarkable.

A year ago he was playing in the Championship with Middlesbrough and now he’s shining on the Champions League stage with Villa.

Rogers was brilliant in the famous win over Bayern Munich and the 22-year-old continued his stunning form against Bologna.

The powerful attacking midfielder supplied his fifth goal involvement of the season, assisting Jhon Duran for his second-half finish, and was a complete nuisance to defend against.

Rogers was simply magnificent against Bologna, producing his latest outstanding performance on the European stage.

The visitors couldn’t live with his freakish strength and running power but neither can most teams on the planet, with Jamie Redknapp previously dubbing Rogers ‘unplayable’ against Arsenal.

Every time he picked up the ball in a pocket of space, normally found by Youri Tielemans, the Bologna defenders didn’t know whether to back off or commit to a challenge.

Whatever they tried didn’t seem to work, however, as Rogers was a complete menace, both on the and off the ball.

Aston Villa fans on Rogers vs Bologna

Playing in the Champions League has seen Rogers showcase his precocious talent to the footballing world, with several clubs surely in awe of him.

Villa fans, in particular, are running out of superlatives to describe the former Manchester City star.

Following Tuesday night’s win over the Serie A side, a few supporters compared Rogers to Brazilian Ronaldo, a player who also possessed freakish ball-carrying attributes.

One supporter said: “Midlands R9,” while another added: “Add a finish and you’ve got R9 reborn.”

Many others were also left impressed by his breathtaking performance, as a third fan said: “He is a joy to watch. Natural footballer. What a future he has ahead of him.”

One even said that Rogers is an upgrade on Moussa Diaby, who they sold to Al-Ittihad in the summer, saying: “Morgan Rogers has rare unique abilities. He is a gifted player and a brilliant man to turn and run with the ball at defenders. He is another level to Diaby and a credit to the recruitment team.”

Despite only signing in January from Boro, another fan felt that his performances needed rewarding with a new contract.

“He needs a new contract. Only on 15 grand a week he needs rewarding,” while a seventh replied: “During the Arsenal loss I spent most the game just following him, going wow, outstanding talent.”

Rogers is a rare breed of footballer, who can just glide past top-level players like they’re not even there and if he can add ruthlessness to his game, he’ll become unstoppable.
