Pau Torres substitution
There was little excitement throughout the first leg of the Europa Conference League round of 16 game between Villa and Ajax. Unai Emery’s side will have perhaps come away the happiest after the 0-0 draw despite Ezri Konsa’s red card.
However, one moment that would have given many fans a heart attack was the substitution of Torres at half-time. The defender has been vital for the Birmingham side but has struggled with injuries in 2024.
Thankfully, Emery clarified the situation after the game confirming that it was pre-planned.

Why Villa should be ‘confident’ against Spurs

This weekend, Villa face a massive test as they host Spurs at Villa Park. The game could prove to be vital in the race for Champions League qualification with Spurs just five points behind with a game in hand.
However, one man who is confident Villa will get a result is David James. The former Villain believes Spurs’ style of play will suit the hosts and help them get a result.

Jordan Henderson makes feelings known

The England international left his home country at the start of the season to seek greener pastures in Saudi Arabia. However, this did not happen, with the midfielder moving to Ajax in January.
With one of his first games at his new club being against Aston Villa, the English international was quizzed on his views on his opponents.
