The rumour mill at Aston Villa is well and truly in full swing as there have been names all across Europe being tipped to join Dean Smith’s side this month.

In some cases, it has got the Aston Villa supporters pretty excited, but on other occasions, they aren’t so keen on the individual being linked with their club.

But it is fair to say that one of the latest names being tipped for a move to Villa Park should get the supporters off their seats.

The Mirror have claimed that Villa are keen on signing former Premier League midfielder, Nzonzi, who is currently on-loan at Galatasaray from Italian side Roma.

It is said that a bust-up at Galatasaray’s training ground could potentially see him make a return to Italy, as Villa are keen on securing his services.

In recent weeks, Villa have produced some pretty abject displays, especially in the middle of the park where they have lacked any composure, bite, ability to win the ball back and do the basics.

Nzonzi has a presence about him and he is a player that the Midlands outfit should without a doubt push for because he is what Villa need.

The former Blackburn player has a nastiness to his game, can use his large frame to bully the opposition and he can drive through the middle of the park.

Ever since John McGinn’s injury in December, Villa have lost that cutting edge and securing the signature of Nzonzi would bring some of that back.

Not only would a player like Nzonzi bring his own quality to the table but he would also bring the best out of those around him, especially Villa’s inexperienced midfield.

The likes of Douglas Luiz, Marvelous Nakamba, Conor Hourihane and Henri Lansbury have struggled for large parts this term, whilst January signing, Danny Drinkwater, suffered a horror debut over the weekend as Villa conceded six at home to Manchester City.

Nonetheless, it remains to be seen what will come of these Nzonzi rumours because if he does walk through the doors of Bodymoor Heath then Villa’s chances of staying in the Premier League will increase.
