Aston Villa returned to winning ways in style as they secured a 3-1 win over Brentford in the Premier League.

It was a brilliant response from Unai Emery’s men after Aston Villa were comfortably beaten by Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

A sublime strike from Morgan Rogers set the tone for a complete domination at Villa Park, with Ollie Watkins and Matty Cash adding another two goals in the first period.

Brentford did grab a consolation through Mikkel Damsgaard in the second half, but this performance was a sign that Villa are back to their best, and midfielder Boubacar Kamara was magnificent.

Boubacar Kamara was outstanding against Brentford

Kamara was out for such a long time after suffering an ACL injury against Manchester United in February.

However, the Frenchman has returned to the Aston Villa starting XI like he never left, slotting back into the midfield phenomenally well and making himself undroppable.

In the goalless draw against Juventus, Kamara pulled the strings at Villa Park and in Wednesday’s win over Brentford, he was even better.

For the first goal Villa scored, Rogers will take all the credit but it was all Kamara in the build-up, who swivelled past three Brentford players, drove into space and passed the ball forward.

It’s this level of confidence on the ball that Emery has missed; the ability to take the ball under immense pressure and dictate proceedings.

Throughout the game, he was incredibly influential, with the statistics showcasing his quality both in and out of possession.

Aston Villa fans blown away by Kamara vs Brentford

When discussing his performance on X, the Villa fans agreed that Kamara was magnificent in the middle of the park, showering the 25-year-old with praise.

“Much better tonight #AVFC Mings and Kamara were superb,” one supporter said.

“Absolutely adore Boubacar Kamara. Such an intelligent and classy player,” another replied.

Some fans even compared him to Manchester City’s Ballon d’Or winning midfielder Rodri, which is incredible praise.

One supporter said: “When people say he’s our Rodri they’re not joking, he opens up the game for the rest of the team brilliantly,” while another agreed: “Kamara is our Rodri.”

Some even commented on Kamara costing Villa nothing: “Just a friendly reminder that Boubacar Kamara was free.”
