Ollie Watkins reacts to ‘top class’ Aston Villa legend in action

Aston Villa’s modern-day hero has been impressed by the Villa Park legend Tony Daley while watching his clips.

Ollie Watkins has been immense this season for Villa in the Premier League which sees them currently sat in fifth on 19-points. A 4-1 win over West Ham at the weekend is the latest impressive display in a growing list.

Villa have been top-class and have even garnered praise from Wolves boss Gary O’Neil.

Watkins has played a key role in this as he has played 95% of the minutes in the league according to TransferMarkt.

In his nine appearances, he has scored five and assisted five which is a truly remarkable return and a key reason Villa are so high up.

Now, the striker has reacted to a Villa legend and his goals catalogue.

Watkins reacts to Tony Daley

Reacting to the clips in a video on Sky Sports, Watkins was visibly awe-struck by the legendary clips of Tony Daley.

“Top class” he marvelled, in reaction to a goal he watched from Daley.

To another, Watkins reacted by asking: “How’s he scored from there?”

“The memory of him running down the wing will never be forgotten.”

Watkins was watching the clips with Sky Sports in honour of Black History Month.

Tony Daley’s Aston Villa career

Daley was at Aston Villa from July 1985 until July 1994 and grew up a boyhood Villa fan.

Running down the wing, Daley played 230 games for Villa in which he scored 28 goals and made six assists, all of which were memorable – according to TransferMarkt.

He was also an eight-time England international, as he chose to represent the Three Lions over Jamacia.

Daley also featured for Wolves, Watford and Walsall in his career, but didn’t make more than 10 appearances for any of those three.
