Aston Villa owners, Nasef Sawiris and Wes Edens have set their sights on adding another club to the V Sports network. Real Union, partially owned by Unai Emery, are the latest.

Earlier this season, Aston Villa and their owners announced that they had agreed to a partnership with J.League giants, Vissel Kobe.

Now it appears that the Spanish club associated to Unai Emery is going to become the latest addition to the portfolio.

Currently, V Sports holds shares in Vitoria, ZED, and Vissel Kobe and are now looking to add another European side to that.

This is being done in a similar vein to the City Group who hold shares in Girona, New York City, Troyes etc.

Who are Real Union?

Real Union are a club that are currently in the third division of Spanish football and sit in sixth at the time of writing.

They were relegated from the top tier in 1932 and are yet to return to the elite again. This may be the goal of Sawiris, Edens and Co.

The Spanish club were in the second division until 2010 until they were relegated and they have struggled so far to return.

Their most famous moment, potentially, was a 3-2 home win against Real Madrid. A 4-3 loss at the Bernabeu saw them through due to away goals as they became the first Segunda team to beat the giants.

Why have Aston Villa got involved?

It has been reported by Noticias de Gipuzkoa that Villa are ‘finalising its entry into Real Union’.

One thing is clear, Aston Villa are all in on Emery. He has a lot of control at the club in various aspects, he is the king in B6.

Back in June 2021, the Spaniard purchased a controlling stake in Union. Suggested by MailOnline that he did so because his father and grandfather played for them.

Alongside his brother, Igor, they purchased a stake. The club runs in the family that is for sure.

Now Aston Villa and V Sports are set to become partners of the Spanish outfit in yet another exciting move.

It is unclear how this will affect either side right now, but NSWE haven’t put a foot wrong so far, this appears no different.
