Micah Richards has praised Aston Villa captain John McGinn following his performance as Scotland qualify for the Euros.

John McGinn has excellent as always for Aston Villa this season under Unai Emery and has been pivotal in the impressive start.

The Villa captain has been vital in the fast rise up the table and in Europe.

But it isn’t just Villa he’s performed for, with his excellence for Scotland securing European Championships qualification.

The 29-year-old has played a key role for his country as captain and these performances haven’t gone under the radar, with Micah Richards singling out the midfielder for praise.

Richards on McGinn

Speaking about the recent internationals on The Rest is Football, Richards congratulated McGinn on qualifying for the Euros and his recent performances.

“We have got to say congratulations also to Scotland for qualifying,” the former Villa defender said.

“John McGinn, my mate, has been absolutely outstanding. Scott McTominay has been in the form of his life.”

McGinn has scored two and assisted one in six qualifying games for Scotland which just demonstrates how brilliant he has been.

Currently on £120,000 per week at Villa, according to Capology, McGinn has proven himself worth every penny for Unai Emery this season.

Two goals and one assist in 13 appearances for the Villians has him as one of the most influential players.

The midfielder is integral to everything Emery is doing at Villa and is clearly the right choice for captain as he leads by example.

Villa are currently fifth in the league after a flying start and will be keen for this to continue on Sunday against West Ham United at Villa Park.
