Aston Villa winger, Leon Bailey has admitted that he knows away teams will come to Villa Park looking to stop their home record.

Since February, Aston Villa haven’t lost a game at Villa Park and now have some of the best form in the country at home.

Under Unai Emery, the Villains have been transformed into one of the top forces in the Premier League. Since he was hired, he has taken charge of just three losses at home.

This season, wins over Luton Town, Brighton, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton have been secured. Giving a 100% win record at home, with 20 goals in just five games.

Following a first league defeat since early September against Nottingham Forest, Villa will be looking to bounce back.

What has Leon Bailey said?

The home record has given Villa Park a new lease of life. Following promotion, home form had typically been lacking, but that is no longer the case.

Villa have gone from a side that couldn’t buy a win at home back in the 2010s, to being the best home team in the league.

Speaking to Birmingham Mail, Leon Bailey has admitted that the longer the run goes on the harder it may be to maintain.

On that, the Jamaican said: “Each game’s going to get more and more difficult for us.

“So far we’ve been doing that and it’s been working for us. We just have to remain humble and do the same.”

It is safe to say that Emery won’t let his players get complacent as he wants to maintain this run.

Target on Villa’s back

This form comes with its own pressure as it gives visiting teams a target to aim for. They want to be the team that won at Villa Park.

Discussing that, Bailey added: “Everyone knows we haven’t lost any league game at home here. Everybody’s going to want to come here and show that they can beat us. We have to keep that in the back of our heads that each game is going to become more and more difficult.”

There is definitely going to be an added pressure as this run goes on. With that being said, the Villains have thrived off that so far and will want it to continue.

Bailey was keen to outline that point: “There’s definitely a lot of confidence at home. We all know that. The main thing for us is we just have to play the football we know works for us.”

Long may this great run continue and hopefully, it can be built on against Fulham to keep it going for even longer.
