Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has praised the ‘outstanding’ Jack Grealish after Aston Villa secured a 2-0 win against Newcastle United on Monday night.

Whilst Grealish didn’t get on the score sheet, he ran the show for Villa, who secured all three points against their former manager Steve Bruce.

For the opening goal, Grealish was fouled on the edge of the area, as Conor Hourihane put away the free-kick in brilliant fashion.

Moments later, Grealish was fouled once again after he ran at the Newcastle defence, but this time Hourihane’s free-kick found Anwar El Ghazi, who tapped in from close-range.

After the game, Maddison sent this message to Grealish from his personal Instagram as he was clearly pleased with the performance the Villa man put in.

Grealish missed Villa’s last three Premier League games because of an injury and he returned by helping them to a much-needed three points.

But this is where Dean Smith will want his players to show some consistency because it can prove to be very rewarding heading towards a busy festive period.

At the weekend, Villa take on Manchester United at Old Trafford before they make a trip to the capital to take on Chelsea, who have former Derby boss Frank Lampard at the helm and ex-Villa striker Tammy Abraham up front.
