Aston Villa fans couldn’t contain their excitement as some important news broke from the club on Wednesday afternoon.
Aston Villa kicked off their Premier League campaign with a hard-earned three points away at West Ham United on Saturday evening.
Unai Emery’s men are warming up for their date with the Champions League as several new signings bid to take a prominent role within the first-team squad.
Amadou Onana announced himself to the Villa faithful in style by scoring inside four minutes at the London Stadium, while left-back Ian Maatsen was also a livewire from the bench.
That duo have signed contracts till 2029 and 2030 respectively, while the club have also shown an appetite to give their current players long-term deals.
Last October, for instance, Ollie Watkins was given a contract till 2028 and now, another key first-team star has put pen to paper, much to the delight of the Villa fans.

Aston Villa fans react as Emi Martinez signs new contract till 2029
Supporters have the luxury of watching arguably the world’s best goalkeeper Emi Martinez at Villa Park.
A World Cup and Copa America winner with Argentina, Martinez has been an integral cog in the Villans’ rise towards the top four, making crucial saves and impressing with his pinpoint distribution.
At the age of 31, the former Arsenal gloveman is in the prime of his career as a goalkeeper and the club have recognised this by giving him a new contract till 2029.
Reacting to this news via X, one supporter said: “I could cry” with accompanying crying and love heart emojis, while another replied: “Wow. So happy about this. An elite-level player committing to Aston Villa. Already a great but will likely go down as a club legend.”
“It is crazy to think we have the world #1 and that none of us are likely to see a better keeper play for #avfc in out life time. He is truly special,” a third responded.
“Love all our signings but this may be my favourite,” a fifth added, while a sixth said: “I can’t overstate how big this is. Best in the world. And fully committed. It’s not just his ability but his mentality.”

Massive news for Aston Villa
Martinez is inarguably the best goalkeeper on the planet and for Villa to tie him down to a five-year contract is fantastic news for the club.
Heading into a campaign where the club are preparing for the Champions League, they’ve given one of their most crucial components a new deal.
It’s also refreshing to see Martinez commit his long-term future to the club, as he clearly believes in the project at Villa Park and wants to stay at the club and win trophies.
For the incredible Argentine, the only thing missing from his career is a trophy at club level with Villa. That would be the icing on the cake for a player who has already placed his name into the ‘legend’ category.
Hopefully, in his time that remains in Birmingham, he will get his hand on the silverware that his performances and dedication truly deserve.
