Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott dubbed Aston Villa marksman Cameron Archer a ‘top shooter’ on Instagram after he fired England U21s to the finals of the European Championships.
Lee Carsley’s side thumped Israel U21s 3-0 in Georgia on Wednesday to set-up a final showdown with Spain, who put five past Ukraine on their way to the last two and now the duo will meet each other on Saturday for the grand prize.
Villa’s academy star came off the bench for the semi-final clash, and despite being on the pitch for only 15 minutes, he still bagged himself a goal before taking to his Instagram and simply writing ‘Euro finalists’.
In the comments section of Archer’s IG post, Elliott, who also came off the bench, wrote ‘top shooter’, whilst Chelsea star Chukwuemeka added ‘super warm’.

Pure finisher Archer
Even though Archer has only started one game during the tournament, he has still bagged himself two goals, including an assist for Jacob Ramsey during England’s opening group game win against the Czech Republic.
Whilst Ramsey had to return home early because of injury, Archer remains the sole Villa player flying the Claret and Blue flag, as the Three Lions young guns have a chance to win some much-needed silverware.
The fact that someone like Archer, who scored 11 goals in 20 Championship games for Boro last season, is sat on the bench, tells you everything you need to know about the quality in depth.
But Spain will be a different animal altogether at the weekend and it will be interesting to see if Lee Carsley opts to start Archer because he is certainly banging that door down.

Archer needs to stay at Villa
In previous seasons, Villa have been undecided on what to do with their academy star and it has always resulted in him just being loaned out to a team in England’s second-tier in January.
Well, all of that now needs to be put to bed and Unai Emery needs to provide the young kid with a chance next season.
Ollie Watkins, alongside teenage January capture Jhon Duran, are the only bonafide strikers at the club, so the opportunities are there for Archer.
Whilst Watkins’ all-round game is far better than Archer’s, the rising star’s finishing ability is more natural and far better than the England international’s.
