Ex-Real Madrid star ‘wowed’
Watkins has been incredible for Aston Villa this season. The striker found the back of the net yet again on Saturday as he netted a brace in a 3-2 win over Luton.
This has taken his Premier League tally up to 16 goals this season, the second-highest in the division and only two behind Erling Haaland. On top of this, he also has the most assists in the league standing at 10.
Now, after his most recent performance, Steve McManaman was full of praise for the striker calling him the ‘best player on the pitch’ against Luton.

English manager stunned
The Luton game was highly important to Villa’s campaign. The club are looking to secure Champions League football mainly thanks to the brilliance of Unai Emery.
After a comeback from the Hatters, Villa managed to secure the three points and consolidate their position in the table.
While watching the match English manager Mark Warburton was left stunned by the tactics Emery was deploying. He stated that he deserves ‘massive credit’ for the job he was doing at the club.

Pep Guardiola’s classy response
Despite some clear success on the pitch, Villa do not seem to get the respect they deserve from the media. The club could well win a European trophy this season as well as reach the Champions League.
However, when a journalist asked Guardiola about his upcoming tough run of games, the reporter forgot to mention Villa. That was when the Spaniard was quick to remind the journalist that City are set to take on Emery’s side soon.
