Pundit and former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker, Stan Collymore, wants the Reds to sign Boubacar Kamara this summer.

With Fabinho’s future at Liverpool in doubt, Stan Collymore has urged the Merseyside outfit to swoop for Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara as a replacement.

In his regular column for CaughtOffside, Collymore said: “to replace Fabinho…Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara would be an excellent acquisition for Klopp having been exceptional at times last season – although I think Aston Villa won’t be motivated to sell him this summer.”

Collymore, who spent two seasons at Villa Park between 1997 and 1999, is likely spot on with his assessment that Unai Emery will be reluctant to let Kamara go. The 23-year-old featured 24 times in the Premier League last season, and became an increasingly influential presence as the campaign progressed, helping Villa to secure Europa Conference League qualification.

Kamara exit not on Villa’s agenda

With Marvelous Nakamba looking likely to leave the club, it will be even more pressing for Emery to keep Kamara in place. What’s more, the 3-cap France international only joined the Villans last summer, and signed a five-year contract on arrival. It would take an extraordinary bid from Liverpool, or anyone, to secure Kamara’s services, and the chances of that are very slim.

With European football to contend with this season, having quality squad depth will be more important than ever for Emery’s men. Kamara will remain a key figure in the Spanish coach’s plans.

With Aston Villa eyeing up some of Europe’s most exciting talents this summer, the club certainly aren’t of a mind to let any of their own top talents, like Kamara, go.
