Aston Villa have been a very well-run club in recent years. The Villans have gone about business over the past few years in a very structured, approached manner.

From the sale hefty sale of Jack Grealish, to the quality investments in Ollie Watkins, Matty Cash and Emiliano Martinez – it appears they’ve got it spot on in recent times in regards to the first-team squad.

The same can’t be said for some other Premier League clubs. Most notable of late is that of Everton – who were recently struck with a 10-point deduction due to their breach of Financial Fair Play rules, via ESPN.

Ex-Aston Villa CEO made stark prediction

This is shown by a man who is no longer surrounding the club, ex-CEO of Aston Villa – Christian Purslow.

“We [Aston Villa] are trying to do things the right way, that is the tradition of this great club, and that means patiently, consistently seeking to improve but doing so within the financial rules,” he told BT Sport back in February of this year.

“Those rules are very topical today, and that is why clubs like Fulham and Brentford are able to be successful, but I think it’s quite likely in the coming months and years that we will see further reform of those crucial financial regulations.

“When properly applied, they ensure that the wealth of ownership is a secondary factor, not a primary factor, and I think that is the way most football fans think football should be.”

Aston Villa’s former CEO prediction comes to light, Everton hit hard

Some predictions come true, sadly at the expense of those supporting a certain Merseyside team in blue.

Everton are the first side to be really hit hard from Financial Fair Play repercussions. Their 10-point-deduction is the worst in Premier League history.

Although, they are set to appeal the decision which has left them in 19th place – the dreaded relegation zone.

The Villans’ tactical and fair approach to spending their masses has paid off in the long run. They sit in a very favourable position, with a fantastic coach with an elite squad – but most importantly, they’ve done it all by the book.
