Former Aston Villa man, Tony Cascarino has admitted that with Tottenham Hotspur’s injuries, Villa could pose the early pacesetters a problem.
Following a great start to the season, Aston Villa find themselves in fifth place, just three points away from the top spot.
At the beginning of the season, it was Tottenham Hotspur who were leading the way at the summit of the Premier League. With that Ange Postecoglu has won each of the Manager of the Month awards, but now it is going South slightly.
Under Unai Emery, the Villans have gone from strength to strength and now provide a genuine challenge to the “big six”.
Following the international break, Villa travel to North London to face Spurs in a game which could see the away side move into the top four.
What has Tony Cascarino said?
The Irishman, Cascarino, played at Villa Park for just over a year before leaving to join Celtic. In his time with the club, he managed 11 goals in 43 appearances.

In an article for The Times, the former forward has been discussing the Villans’ top four credentials.
With the Midland outfit facing Spurs next, there is a huge test of Emery’s men’s bottle against a league rival.
Discussing his thoughts, Cascarino said: “Aston Villa can break into that group.
“I think Tottenham’s injury issues are a real problem for them, as all their fans were pointing out during their great start. Micky van de Ven has had an operation on his hamstring and that makes it a really bad injury.”
With the Dutchman out, James Maddison also injured and Christian Romero and Eves Bissouma injured, the Lilywhites are light on the ground.
This will give Emery and his squad added hope that they can go and pick up a win away from home.
Continuing on, Cascarino added: “That puts Tottenham in danger and Villa, with this home form, can put a run together. Emery has got Villa Park rocking.”
His final point can not be disagreed with. 13 wins from 13 games at home is a ridiculous record that will be hard to beat. With Emery at the wheel, Champions League is a genuine ambition and soon people will begin to take the Villans seriously.
