Journalist, John Townley has opened up about Aston Villa star, Pau Torres and has spoken out about how good he has been this season.
It has been nothing short of a great season for Aston Villa which currently sitting in third place in the Premier League.
With Unai Emery at the wheel, the Villans have become one of the most exciting teams to watch in the league with just over 12 months in the job.
Wins in the past week against Manchester City and Arsenal in the past week have seen praise come from all areas.

This has also seen conversations of a title race arise which has been downplayed by Emery as well as former manager, Dean Smith, this week.
Over the summer, many signings were made to add to the squad and they have certainly played their part on the excellent start. One of those has been picked out and named as one of the best in the division.
What has been said about Pau Torres?
It is safe to say that it has been a great start to life in B6 for £31.5m man, Pau Torres, following his move from Villareal.
Despite coming in for his debut in difficult circumstances, following Tyrone Mings’ injury, he has put that behind him.
Torres has been a mainstay of the Villa side even with stars like Diego Carlos, Ezri Konsa and even Clement Lenglet vying for minutes.
Discussing the Spaniard, John Townley has said: “Pau Torres still has aspects of his defending which he can improve on, but I don’t recall him putting a foot wrong against either Man City or Arsenal this week.
“He has made a transformational impact on this Aston Villa side. One of the best acquisitions any PL team made in the summer.”
It must be said that Torres has been one of Villa’s most important and consistent players so far this season. Alongside his centre-back partner, Konsa, a solid backline has been formed at Villa Park.
Where he shines is his ability to pass out from the back, something that was especially evident vs City and Arsenal.
Looking at his Fbref profile, he registers in the top eight percentile for progressive passes per 90. This is added to by being in the top three percentile for progressive carries. A great modern-day centre-back who is one of the best in the world at what he does.
He has proven to be a top-class acquisition by Emery and Co. Long may his top form continue to help Villa move forward
